Clarks Court (Woburn) Bay is nice, but the shores are a bit muddy for me and they do not want dogs on the resort beach.
The author relaxing on the boat in the shade
I talked the humans into moving the boat around Hog Island to the sheltered anchorage on its western shore.
This sheltered anchorage gives me lots of beaches and walks to explore, it gives the humans a place to do some repairs to the boat and they are within easy reach of ‘shopping buses’ into Saint George and a few local bars for social events.
Main anchorage beach on the west side of Hog Island. It is very sheltered, so I do not have to work my way through the surf before I go for a swim.
A great beach for swimming fromSick of beaches? There are lots of hikes on the island and into the hills surrounding the bay
It makes a nice change to get out and about moreWe still have a view from the boat out to sea to the south. But reefs protect us from most waves trying to get in from the south-east or south-west.View of the beach on Hog Island from the boatWe have Hog Island protecting us on the East side
There is a bridge joining Hog Island to the mainland built by property developers, in the north-east end of the bay. Eventually a resort is scheduled to be built on the island, but for now it is wilderness
You can ‘zoom’ through it to visit Clarks Court (Woburn) Bay and the amenities there
View to the north from the boat. The surrounding countryside has some great walking trailsView looking west from boat. The surrounding forest mean tree frog song at nightView south-west from boat. Around the point here and you can access the next bay, Mount Harman, and it’s amenities. A short walk from Mount Harman Bay gets you to the tourist area of Prickly Bay.It is not all wilderness in Hog Island AnchorageThe local boats have set up a social area off the beach with benches, BBQ pits and swings for the kidsWith the help of cruisers, a Grenadian Roger and his wife, have set up a bar on the beach. They open on the weekends, in summer season, and offer drinks and home cooked food.
They even get the occasional band to come onto the island and playThe cruisers also organise weekly sporting events and even daily exercise classes. The female human is enjoying the morning ‘noodling’ aqua-aerobics in the anchorageBut you do not have to follow the crowdsThere are plenty of beaches and trails on and around the island that you can have to yourself
I have fun anywhere
After getting some ‘boat jobs’ done in the cooler morning, I get to run about as the humans learn how to play dominos and dice games with the locals when the afternoon heat sets in
Hi All
Glad to see you are still enjoying Grenada and hope no more TS scares come your way. The boat was in the yard in St Lucia and we were back in the UK for 4 weeks. Didn’t see the report until after Chantal went through – luckily!!
Hope to see you both next season as we are heading west for a few months x
