Prince Rupert Bay (Portsmouth), Dominica – Getting lost on the Wai’tukubuki National Trail

The human’s decided to try to hike the last section of the Wai’tukubuli National Trail (Segment 14) that runs from Portsmouth north.

Somehow the human’s managed to lose the trail and we did a little ‘bush wacking’ to cross over the headland.

No worries, we were on the trail now.

The trail followed the forest north along the sea

There were big coconut trees along the trail

The trail passes by some lovely little beaches

This gives me lots of places to cool off along the way.

You can see north to the next islands in the chain. You can just make out the Saints with Guadeloupe behind them. These will be our next stops

Enough horsing around in the sea, the trail headed into the jungle again

It seemed to be following a stream into the mountains

Following the stream we found ourselves entering a rich lush valley

The trail was lined with coconut, banana and soursop trees

Also lots of coco trees dripping with ripe fruits

Guess what? Yes, the humans had gotten lost again.

Turns out we were not on the Wai’tukubuli Trail any more. The human’s had instead stumbled upon a new trail, in the mist of construction, to the newly discovered Fond Waterfall. The friendly construction crew were happy to give us directions to the waterfall.
