The mountainous West coast of Guadeloupe offers great protection from strong Easterly winds that are crossing the Atlantic at the moment. But here in the Caribbean you can sometimes get waves on the lee (protected) side of the islands that do not follow the wind direction.
These waves travel across the Caribbean Sea and hit the islands from either the South West or North West. Remember the Caribbean Sea is a big body of water.
We were searching for an anchorage with some protection from the South Western swells that were hitting Guadeloupe at the moment, so we headed North to the protected bay in Deshaies (pronounced Day-Hey). This bay also famous for being the main set for the BBC TV drama ‘Death in Paradise’.
The bay here cuts deeper into the mainland offer protection from the swell.
There are a variety of economical internet options, which is why I am allowed to update the blog.
Now this is more like it!

Hope you are getting ready for Xmas out there.
Cain – been listening to some stuff by The Glitch Mob (sort of electronic/ industrial) and its pretty good if you are looking for some alternatives to the ragga! I like the ‘Drink the Sea’ album.
Take care.
