On the south-eastern tip of the island of Virgin Gorda in the BVIs is an area of outstanding natural beauty called ‘The Baths’
Two golden sandy beaches are separated by a field of giant granite boulders.
Of course someplace this cool is going to be VERY VERY popular.
To try to preserve the place ‘a bit’ the national park service has banned anchoring and provided mooring buoys for free (day use only).
To protect swimmers and snorkelers, they have also banned landing any craft on the beaches. This means you have to use their dingy buoys on swimming perimeters or swim in from your boat.
Despite these precautions the place is still swamped with tourists.
Landing people ashore is permitted further down the island, and it is a short taxi drive from.there.
“Find a beautiful place-put up a parking lot”.
We would definitely put ‘The Baths’ down as one of the natural beauties of the Caribbean.
