In very light winds we are still managing to slowly make our way North.
We left the lovely long beach of Pigeon Cay, Cat Island, for the Little San Salvador. The slow downwind sailing was ‘steaming’ hot. It even hurt to walk on the painted decks. We were thankful when a tiny bit of cloud cover offered a reprieve as we entered the Bay at Little San Salvador. Little San Salvador is privately owned by a consortium of cruise liners. They have renamed the bay Half Moon Bay and transformed it into a Caribbean Adventure Park for passengers. We ran into one of their passengers in the US Virgin Islands. He said his Cruise Ship anchored here, were they were offered a variety of water sports, pirate shows and other forms of entertainment for the day. The far west side of the bay is the least developed and recommended as the anchorage for visiting boats.
There were no Cruise Ships visiting the island when we stopped here. Part of me is glad to have the beach to myself…. But there is also a part of me that would have loved to see the ‘mayhem’ that thousands of passengers would make in this bay.It is ‘private property’ so we did not have a ‘nose’ in land or at any of the amusement park at the other end of the bay. There are custodians staying on the island that would not appreciate the trespassing. We tried to be polite and stay ‘basically’ to the public ‘tide line’ rule.
Without the ‘hordes’ it is a peaceful stop over on the way north to the island of Eleuthera.
If we had not headed off the next day we would have been witness to what a cruise ship does to the place.

Quincy I hope that white stuff on the end of your nose is sand????
You noticed!
Beautiful sandy beaches are a ‘natural’ stimulant for me.
Anything to get off the rolly boat the human’s drag me around on. I guess the ‘sailing thing’ is necessary to get me to all these wonderful places. At least the sailing, lately, has been very nice on the lee side of the islands.
Running around the beach, and get my nose all sandy, is my reward for putting up with the passages.
