Bloody humans have restricted my daily runs to constantly running up and down the boat after balls. Not very exciting. At least they have not thrown any of my toys overboard…..yet. They tell me this is just a quick pit stop and then we are back on our way.
Normally I insist they sail everywhere, but the winds have dropped to almost nothing many times during the day and night and I have let them turn on the ‘choke and smoke’ in the name of ‘steering and progress’. We have definitely felt the slight pull north of the Gulf Stream after we cleared the Florida point of Cape Canaveral.
The humans thought it would be prudent, and not really out of the way, to stop quickly at Palm Beach and make sure we were at ‘max capacity’ of cheaper American fuel before hitting the Bahamas. Especially as the forecast is ‘almost’ no wind for the crossing.
A front is headed to south Florida and the Bahamas next week, so the humans would like to be across, checked into the new country, and anchored up in a protected spot before that front comes through. Looks like it will hit for Christmas???
I am sure we will have internet again before Christmas so we can shoot you all off salutations. For now, I just wanted you to know that the humans have kept me well and the sailing has been gentle. Of course my fishing luck has rubbed off on them and they are quickly filling the freezer with tuna. The female got a ‘whopper’. I will fill you in with the photos as soon as I can.
Opps, fuel full and the humans are ready to get going again. Back to ‘plastic fantastic’ as a peeing post.
Oh, and by the way. The humans did run aground getting in here. Ask me later about that one. Silly humans, always mucking things up. Obviously they got it off, because we are off again. Hopefully they do not run aground getting out of here!
Wish me luck!

my son (Chase) he’s 11, just ask who sails the boat when you sleep?
What scares you most about being at sea?
Where does the dog go to the bathroom?
Be safe.
Dear Chase,
I understand you have some questions about sea travel.
(1) Who sails the boat when you sleep?
Well, I have a bit of a ‘dogs life’ and spend most of my time snoozing. I leave the helming of the boat to my human servants. They alternate sleeping through the night. They have some naps in the afternoon to make up for the shorter sleeps in the night.
(2) What scares you the most about being at sea?
After the worry about running out of ‘Scooby snacks’ I worry about one of us hurting ourselves. The boat will always stay afloat, even if my human slaves run out of steam. There is nothing that can not be fixed with out a little ‘McGivering’. So our primary rule is to stay safe and uninjured.
(3) Where do I go to the bathroom?
Well the plastic decks of the sail boat are very boring, but that is what I am limited to. In fair weather I prefer ‘relieving’ myself as far away from the cockpit as possible. The rougher the seas, the closer I stay to the dry safe cockpit. The humans throw ‘dry lumps’ over board and scoop up buckets of sea water to rinse any thing else off the decks. They give me lots of praise and treats, so I must be doing something right.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Hope these answers help.
Love,
Quinn
