Now everyone is entitled to their opinion. But we would have to agree with the Guide Book for once. Hawksbill Cay is stunning.

The beaches are beautiful, There is a small creek and mangrove system to explore and the hills are covered in rich vegetation.
Amazingly we had the anchorage to ourselves,
The Cay is part of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park and rangers have cleared and marked trails to explore.
The first order of business is to drop the kayaks and head for the beach. Then off for a little explore.

We read in our guide-book that there were some trials to settlement ruins on the north end of the cay so we went off there the next day to have a ‘look see’.

We paddled over to the beach on the north-west side of the Cay and found the trail head in the centre.

Then we hiked back across the Cay. We never did find the ruins. Oh, well.

We thought the Cay was beautiful and lots of fun. There was definitely lots more to explore. We never did get up the creeks and into the mangroves. The park rangers did a wonderful job maintaining the trails….just have to be careful they don’t catch me ‘off the leash’.
