What holiday would be complete in the Bahamas without finding that special place all to yourself. White point, on the west side of Great Guana Cay, it just one of those wondrous places no one ever goes.
Only accessible by sea, few cruisers stop here to enjoy the beautiful crystal clear waters and powdery white sand beach that stretches for ever and ever….
But first we need to get there. We all got up early, and on the move, to make the high tide (when the water levels are higher) to get out and onto the Exuma Bank. This way we were able to sail in the relatively shallow sheltered waters on the lee of the Exuma Cays.
Before we knew it we were anchored off the beach…all…by…ourselves!
Well I lied. We did have some company on the beach.
One of the joys of having the beach to yourself is no one cares if you are covered in sand!
We finished the day off with a snorkel around the points. We hoped we might run into a few lobsters, but we were unlucky. It did not stop us enjoying the coral, especially in the shallows off the point south of us.
It is great to have a place to yourselves sometimes. It gives you that ‘desert island’ feel.

Good evening folks..What a beautiful place. I am amazed that you have that awesome beach all to yourself ..It’s nice to see your friend relaxing. Is he from London? If I was a few decades younger I would talk your aunt pat into meeting you somewhere too but.we would stay at one of the resorts for a holiday…as you folks carried on….I bet you are happy that you bought your new dinghy, it looked like the other one was pooched…I don’t know how much I should send you in case your space is limited. We have another snowstorm blowing in this weekend…..Enjoy your desert Island my dears ..Hugs Rose…night Quinn..
Dear Rose,
Of course we would love to see you and Pat. It is true that this sailing stuff is not for everyone, but we can always anchor up somewhere for a few weeks. We did it for Patsy and Jimmy in St.Lucia. Roy flies out of George Town next week back to England with a stop over in the Caymans. Our plans are to head south and meet up with more friends in Cuba in the first of March. Kim has a ‘special’ birthday this year and we are hoping she and the family are going to join us too this year. If they can not meet us this season, then perhaps she can have a belated birthday with us in the lovely islands off Panama (San Blas), next sailing seasone. We plan to finish off this season in Guatemala. Hiding up a river for the hurricane season.
