We had moved around to House Bay, Raccoon Cay, to ride out the last of the north setting winds of the storm front that had passed through the Jumento Cays.
We anchored up in the northern corner of the bay to tuck ourselves out of the northerly swell that was sneaking around the Cay. We found a lovely sandy spot, with lots of swinging room among the coral heads, just off the beach.
We amused ourselves by watching some downloaded movies on the computer.
And in the morning the worst of the front had passed and fair weather was on the way.
The humans went out and got some more lobster for dinner and I explored the coastline.
There is no place to ‘properly’ dispose of your rubbish in the uninhabited cays here on the shallow waters of the Great Bahama Bank. And forget about recycling in the Caribbean. You will have to wash and store all your tin and glass products, but you can burn your paper and plastic. But remember these are very arid islands, and you will need to build your fire well away from any brush, and make sure it is completely out when finished.
We built ours on the rocky shoreline at low tide hoping all evidence would be washed away with the rise of the next tide. We will get rid of some of our tin and glass waste when we get to Duncan Town, Ragged Island, our next stop.
