SAILING AROUND THE WORLD WITH SPIRIT OF ARGO

Guatemala, Rio Dulce – Moving Marinas

For a ‘variety’ of reasons the humans have gotten restless and moved marinas on the Rio Dulce river of Guatemala.

Why not when there are so many marinas and anchorages to choose from.

We were in the lovely Tortugal Marina (see a full description in an earlier post)

Tortugal Marina

Tortugal Marina is the place to go if you like it a bit quieter. Clean river water for swimming, nature hikes and the staff that take great care of boats left unattended.

But the human’s decided we need a change so we have moved down river, across from the town of Fronteras, to the Marina Nana Juana.

There are a lot more cruisers ‘on their boats’ here, and as a result, there are a lot more opportunities to join into social activities.

Yoga mornings at Nana Juana Marina. 5 minutes dingy ride up river.
The cruisers organize yoga, aqua-aerobics, pot lucks, Sunday BBQs, dominos and live screenings of sporting events from back home.

Pool

Did I forget to mention the lovely big pool?  Unfortunately the pool is the only area dogs are not allowed.

The Marina, and associated resort, do try to be a bit ‘up scale’.

But the staff are warm and friendly and will go out of their way to help you with any job you are up to on the boat.

Restaurant

The restaurant is open long hours, 7:30am-9pm and, along with the BBQ area, they have built a designated cruisers chill out palapa.

Palapa

So we will hang out here for the remainder of the hurricane season and finish the last of the boat jobs between social activities.
