You will all remember my ‘idiot’ humans made a few ‘blunders’ on the way here from Guatemala.
Out of practice, absent-minded and having to reverse roles led to a few mistakes, some lost lines and a little damage to the bow roller.
Ok, a lot of damage to the poor bow roller.
But we found a welder who did a great job of straightening her and welding on some reinforcements.
Now it was just the fun of ‘man handling’ it back into position and crawling back into the chain locker, over the pile of chain to where the bolts come through the deck.
A quick tip we learned
To anyone who has had to put on backing plates, washers and nuts onto bolts in the tight spots, especially the ‘bottomless’ corners of a boat, here is a tip.
Tape the washer to the nut so you can screw them on with one hand.
Just when the humans thought they would have to do it all alone friends arrived in the anchorage. They got commandeered into helping.
Bow roller on and then the anchor winched back into place.
Then up the mast to re-thread the spinnaker line and retrieve the staysail line.
I finally remembered to give the human camera before going up this time.
So I am going to bore you with a few shots from the top of the mast.
A very calm day to be getting away with this.
The sand and sea grass make wonderful pattern on the sea bottom.
View of anchorage with s/v Seismic Wave in the foreground. They are probably regretting coming here as Brett got roped into doing all the winching today.
View of the shoreline and s/v Bellatrix. Do not think they got away without helping. The human’s borrowed a magnet off of them. The way they act, I am surprised anyone wants to anchor around them.
View out to the reef that surrounds West End.
View down to the top deck of Spirit of Argo. Note all the solar panels. With a freezer and computers we are a ‘power hungry’ boat.
Before and after the welding job.
So the boat is all fixed and ready to go.
The humans even managed to find the loose connection to the VHF radio, so that is fixed to along with the leaking window.
Can we now have some time to enjoy cruising?
Did I mention a North westerly front is passing through. Better send the humans out to check the mooring.
Never a dull moment around here!

Great photos from the top of the mast. Glad you managed to fix the bow roller. Happy sailing!
Not in a million years would you get me up there April, very brave!!!
You would not get me up there either Tony. I am with you!
But then someone has to do it.
