We have found a signal on the south side of the island and can now share with you some pictures from our visit on the north side of Guanaja.
ANY EXCUSE FOR A PARTY
Before we left Roatan the cruisers decided we should have one last ‘get together’
As you can see the evening started very respectably.
Just add alcohol and the cruisers started to act a little strangely. But wait, it gets worse!
‘Don’t look at me. I was the sober one of the lot’ If you think dancing with a dog is strange?
How about a dance with ‘crazy’ Aussy Pete who manages the marina and palapa at Fantasy Island.
FINALLY ON OUR WAY TO GUANAJA
In the lee of Roatan we found some lovely sheltered sailing. Even found some entertainment along the way.
MICHAEL’S ROCK ANCHORAGE

The north side of the island is beautiful beaches backed by volcanic mountains covered in tropical rain forest.
I am in heaven now that I am off the lead and free to run and run.
With some strong south easterly winds forecast, we moved the boat closer to shore and off the next beach along, Deena Beach. We found deeper sand to set the anchor well.

More places for me to run about on. With all the quarts and mica in the sand it sparkled in the sun. Every time I rolled in it the humans started singing ‘Gold Finger’????????
OFF ON A WATER FALL HIKE
If you are on this side of the island you have to take the time to hike to the at least one of the waterfalls. I sent the humans off to the closest.
A short hike north up the beach will bring you to the ‘Green Flash Bar and Restaurant’. More on that on the return. The path starts 5 minutes further north up the beach.
Big painted white arrows mark the start.
Some one tried to start an Eco lodge here. It obviously did not go over well.
The start of the trail is fairly level and follows a meandering stream. But is soon gets ‘a bit interesting’, you have to start hunting for white marks on the rocks and it finishes with a bit of a scramble over boulders. Nothing my humans can’t handle.
The reward is a beautiful waterfall set in the jungle.
All this fresh water and the humans forgot their ‘soap on a rope’.
Getting back is easier. But no need to return all sweaty. There are lots of pools to stop at for a soak along the way.
All that hiking does make my humans mighty thirsty!
Some of you may have forgotten, but my humans did not. There is a lovely sea side bar and restaurant only 5 minutes walk back from the end of the trail.
A comfy place for an ice cold beer before heading back to the boat.
Hope you guys enjoyed the tour of the area around Michael’s Rock.
The other side of the island next! Stay tunes!
