We made it safe and sound.
We are very happy to be anchored off the south coast of Chichime Cays in the San Blas Islands of Panama.
The vista here is of a multitude of low lying palm fringed islands surrounded by reefs. Yachts appear to anchored out in the middle of no where, when in fact they are anchored behind the reefs that fan out from the few areas that reach above sea level. Quite stunning. I will try and get you some photo graphs in the morning before heading over to Porvenir to sign into the country of Panama.
We were warned to go into the anchorage at Porvenir in the morning light as Sail Rock has claimed a few yacht already this season.
We are extra lucky because we have the Cruising Guide charts from Eric Bauhaus’s ‘The Panama Cruising Guide’ over laid onto a map program called ‘Open CPN’. With a GPS USB plug in we are able to follow way points and our progress on the ‘very accurate’ charts provided by this guide. Garmin and Navionics are again useless in the Western Caribbean.
For now we are anxious to enjoy a celebratory beer to toast the boat and wet our parched throats. “There might also be a little salt water to mop up”
Lots of love to you all from the merry Spirit of Argo.
