The humans sailed off to Green Island to celebrate St. Patrick’s day with friends.
We anchored up with friends Bill and Gene from S/V Out of the Bag and Tony and Elizabeth from S/V Tactical Directions. Both are visiting the San Blas Islands before heading through the Canal and off to the Pacific.
After the humans got anchored, and got a snorkel in, everyone got together for a St. Patrick’s Day drink.
The next day everyone fancied a walk. Green Island is big enough to afford a bit of a stroll and explore.
It is nice to get off the boat sometimes and stretch your legs.
Green Island is surrounded by a lovely beach.
The surrounding waters are full of star fish and small fish.
There are lots of coconuts for me to chase.
Interesting drift wood formations to admire.
And a few nice spots to relax and enjoy the sea breeze.
The island even has a fresh water well. If we had more time I would have the humans out here doing the laundry.
We can always come back to this lovely island, but we have heard that their is a festival on a ‘few islands down’. The lure of fresh vegetables, beer and some fun have the human’s ‘itching’ to get to Nargana . So, no more wondering about, we are off in the morning for the festival!
VISITORS VIEW
Green Island certainly lives up to the name and was one of the larger that we have visited in my time here.
There are a great many disasters that can befall a boat in this area – the reefs and corals can make for dangerous and deceptive shallows, your depth gauge can malfunction along with your water maker or sat or communication equipment. I have to report that we suffered a most serious incident shortly after arriving at Green Island.
WE RAN OUT OF BEER – Nooooooooooo!
Knowing a thing or two about drinking we were initially saved from this serious situation by Tony (Tac Direction) who could see the side effects (tongues hanging out, dribbling at the sight of folks drinking on nearby boats etc…) the Brit Boys were suffering from their predicament. Having supplied a spare case (thanks Tony) and rejuvenated stocks the position was soon again perilous and was only finally truly solved by a local Kuna canoe arriving with fish and the magical shout of ‘You want cerveza gringo’.
