YOU GUESSED IT WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN FAR! BUT WHY?
DIRTY BOTTOM
I had not expected us to go anywhere today. Moving to the Las Perlas Islands was all about getting the bottom of the boat clean. And ‘man oh man’ we had a dirty bottom. The humans wanted to wait until they got away from the City of Panama and into some cleaner water. Anchoring right by a major metropolitan city is fun, but we are still talking Central American style sewage systems. There was no way I was going to get either of them in the water there. But here, off the picture postcard islands of the Las Perlas, the humans were happy to ‘dive on in’. And they did, to be greatly surprised by the number of barnacles on the blades of the prop. There was also a coating of slime on their new copper coating. The boat had only been in the water for 3 months, but in some awfully polluted water. So I guess it is expected.
BOATS! SOMETHING IS ALWAYS GOING WRONG ON THEM
The last job of the afternoon was to get the water maker going again. It worked fine a few months ago so, of course, there has to be a problem now. Surprise, surprise! The motor works, but no water comes out. There must be a blockage. Of course the blockage is never easy to find! Messing with the with the system all afternoon, I have resigned myself to the fact that TOMORROW they will fix the problem.
I GET A GREAT BEACH FOR ANOTHER DAY
No problem for me. Like I really want to sail away from this lovely long beach that I have completely to myself. The place is right out of a post card, and that is probably why there are signs up saying it will become a Ritz-Carlton Resort soon enough. But it is All MINE for now. At least until the humans get the water maker fixed.
That is what it is like owning a sail boat.
Update you guys on that tomorrow.
